PROGRESSIONS OF LEARNING:
-COMPETENCY 1: Moving about an area with and without obstacles/ rotations on the spot and on apparatus/ object manipulation
-COMPETENCY 2: Cooperate with partners while performing movement or actions in the right place at the right time/ Cooperative-opposition movement or action in group activities in a common space
TACTICS:
-OFFENSE: Attacking and penetrating a zone to score point and knock down an objective
-DEFENSE: Defending a zone against the opposite team
FORMATION: Divide the class with many teams of 3 to 4 players. 2 teams are sharing one field together and they are playing against each other. Pennies are used to differentiate the 2 teams. Static balls are set on cones at the end of each zone. There is a non-entering zone around this objective to allow movement near the objectives. End lines are determined by cones and no one can exit the playing area. Balls can be played the way you want, as long as they stay in the playing area.
DESCRIPTION OF PLAY:
-The 2 teams are playing one against the other.
-The goal is to knock down the static ball on the cone in the opposite team’s field.
-Any kind of pass is accepted. The only thing is that the ball must stay in the field.
-No movement is allowed for the player who’s having the ball.
-5 seconds rules for the ball carrier. (Pass or shot must be done after 5 seconds)
-To get the ball, an interception must be complete or the defensive team start with the ball after a goal is scored.
-LAYER 1: Basic movement pattern and move safely in the space
-LAYER 2: Players makes passes with their teammates in the playing area avoiding other players as well
-LAYER 3: Experience the game a first time with one ball
-LAYER 4: Allow the 3 steps movement for the ball carrier
-LAYER 5: Split the field in two parts: one offensive zone and one defensive zone that players can’t cross.
-LAYER 6: Add goals at the end of each zone
MODIFICATIONS:
-Shape the dimension of the field
-Shape with different ball shape and size
-Add balls
-Change the movement pattern of the passes (bounce pass only)
SAFETY:
-Students should have their head up and scan the environment
-No pushing or grasping to intercept the ball
-End lines away from the walls
