WHAT TIME IS IT MR. WOLF?

CATEGORY: POURSUIT AND EVADE

GRADE LEVEL: CYCLE I, II        

ACTIVITY LEVEL: MODERATE

EQUIPMENT: PENNY

FUNDAMENTAL TECHNIQUES:

-LOCOMOTOR

-NON-LOCOMOTOR

PROGRESSIONS OF LEARNING:

-COMPETENCY 1: Moving about an area with and without obstacles/ rotations on the spot and on apparatus

-COMPETENCY 2: Communicating with other players/ dodging an opponent/ feinting an opponent

TACTICS:

-OFFENSE: Tags as many students as possible

-DEFENSE: Get away from the wolf and reach safe zone

FORMATION: Split the class in 4 different groups so more students are involved in each games. For each group there is one wolf that is staying back to every other player. The rest of the group is on the opposite line of the plying area.

DESCRIPTION OF PLAY:

-The players need to advance close to Mr. Wolf while asking him what time is it.

-Mr. Wolf can answer a real hour or lunch time. When an hour is answered, the players need to keep up going and advance closer to the wolf. However, if the answer is lunch time, they need to run to the safe zone.

-When a player is touched by the wolf, he becomes a wolf himself for the next round.

-The game is played until one player is left.

-LAYER 1: Basic movement pattern and move safely in the space

-LAYER 2: Play the game with the basic rules

-LAYER 3: Change the movement pattern of the students, but not the one of the wolf

MODIFICATIONS:

-Play with the dimensions of the field

-Try different number of player for each field

-Add safe zone between the final safe areas where player can wait for a maximum of 5 seconds

SAFETY:

-Students should keep eyes up when moving in the space

-No pushing when grabbing the penny to your opponent

-End lines away from the walls
