ACTIVITY LEVEL: LOW

EQUIPMENT: MATS FOR INDOOR PLAY

FUNDAMENTAL TECHNIQUES:

-NON-LOCOMOTOR

PROGRESSIONS OF LEARNING:

-COMPETENCY 1: Balanced stances (postures) on the floor and on apparatus

-COMPETENCY 2: Synchronizes his/her movements or actions with partner(s)

TACTICS:

-Work as a team to build the pyramid

-Communicate during the game

-Build a higher pyramid than the other teams

FORMATION: Several teams of 6 players are formed. For each team, there will be several mats for protection. Each team will have to form a human pyramid when the teacher will say go.

DESCRIPTION OF PLAY:

-The goal of the create the higher human pyramid in the less time possible

-Children will have to think how they can create the higher pyramid in in determined time

-LAYER 1: Show the children how to play the game and explain different technique

-LAYER 2: Each team can experience the game without time and with 6 players

-LAYER 3: Play the same game but with a competition…the first team to build their pyramid

-LAYER 4: Allow a determined time to build the pyramid

-LAYER 5: Play the same game with a higher amount of players

MODIFICATIONS:

-Use different number of students for pyramid

-Give an amount of time to build the human pyramid

SAFETY:

-Stay away from the walls

-Students should work slowly and safely with each other

-Have the stop rules if someone is injured

-Place enough mats around each team
