PARACHUTE

CATEGORY: COOPERATIVE GAMES

ACTIVITY LEVEL: MODERATE

EQUIPMENT: PARACHUTE, TENNIS BALLS

FUNDAMENTAL TECHNIQUES:

-LOCOMOTOR

-MANIPULATION

PROGRESSIONS OF LEARNING:

-COMPETENCY 1: Moving about an area with and without obstacles/ object manipulation

TACTICS:

-Move the parachute at the same speed than other students to create a great rhythm

FORMATION: All the players hold one part of the parachute at equal distance from each other. Then every player can create rhythm with the parachute.

DESCRIPTION OF PLAY:

-The goal of the game is to experience different activities with the parachute

-All the players must follow different speed and movement to perform the specific activities

-LAYER 1: Hold the parachute correctly and experience different kind of waves

-LAYER 2: Vary between small and big waves

-LAYER 3: Create the umbrella (players hold the parachute in the air and drop it to the ground)

-LAYER 4: Create the mushroom (players hold the parachute in the air and sit under it

-LAYER 5: Create the mountain and let students climb it (same thing as mushroom but students stay outside the parachute)

-LAYER 6: Experience the switch-a-roo place when the parachute is in the air

-LAYER 7: Play the swamp game (player pull feet of students under the parachute)

-LAYER 8: Play the popcorn game with tennis balls

MODIFICATIONS:

-Play different kind of games as mouse and cats

-Use many parachute if possible

-Try to experience passes with tennis balls

SAFETY:

-Stay away from the walls

-Be aware of the dangers when player cross the parachute

-Use soft object for the popcorn game
