CROWS AND CRANES

CATEGORY: POURSUIT AND EVADE

ACTIVITY LEVEL: HIGH

EQUIPMENT: PENNY

FUNDAMENTAL TECHNIQUES:

-LOCOMOTOR

PROGRESSIONS OF LEARNING:

-COMPETENCY 1: Moving about an area with and without obstacles

-COMPETENCY 2: Opposition movements or actions in duelling activities in a common space

TACTICS:

-OFFENSE: Tagging other players

-DEFENSE: Avoid the taggers

FORMATION: The class is split in two teams. One team is the crows and the other one is the cranes. Teams are lined up in the center of the playing field facing each other.

DESCRIPTION OF PLAY:

-The teacher call either crows or cranes and the name called needs to bet away from the opponent team.

-The players running away must reach the safe zone

-When a player is touched before reaching the safe zone, he switch team and plays for the other team

-The goal is to capture all the player from the opposing team

-LAYER 1: Basic movement pattern and move safely in the space

-LAYER 2: Play the game with the basic rules

-LAYER 3: Use specific movement pattern to escape or catch the other players

MODIFICATIONS:

-Start the game with the players laying their stomach on the ground

-Start the game with players facing different directions

SAFETY:

-Students should keep eyes up when moving in the space

-Soft tags

-End lines away from the walls

-Let at least one meter space between every player on the center line
